A small English town, one gruesome discovery…
In 1943 in Worcestershire, England, four children found a human skeleton in the hollow of a wych elm while playing in Hagley Wood. Several years later, graffiti started appearing near the site asking “Who put Bella in the Wych Elm?” To this day, no one knows Bella’s true identity, what happened to her, or why. Since this gruesome discovery, Worcestershire has never been the same, and the four have remained haunted by what they saw—in more ways than one. Fifteen years later, they all return to the Hagley estate to put the past behind them.

Harper Gable - GN: Quinn Gable’s twin, and one of the original four who found "Bella" in the Wych Elm. They are now an assistant living in London but have returned to Worcestershire to help settle their late father’s affairs.
Quinn Gable - GN: One of the original four who found "Bella" in the Wych Elm, and Harper Gable’s twin. After marrying Liege Cobham’s child and heir, Lane Cobham, Quinn joined the British Armed Forces and is now a servicemember. They are in town to settle their late father’s affairs and are eager to help Lane sell Hagley Estate.
Constable Robin Hart - GN: One of the original four who found "Bella" in the Wych Elm, Robin is now a Constable with the Worcestershire County Patrol Force.
Jamie Payne - GN: One of the original four who found "Bella" in the Wych Elm, Jamie is now a historian at the Worcestershire Cathedral. Often buried behind books, they work hard to preserve the town’s history and document the goingson of Worcestershire, no matter how mundane.
Liege Dorian Cobham - GN: The owner of Hagley Estate, including Hagley Hall. They are getting quite old and the estate has become overwhelming for them to manage, so they’ve designated their child, Lane, to be its heir and proprietor.
Lane Cobham-Gable - GN: Child and heir of Liege Cobham, now married to Quinn Gable. Ever practical, Lane is the proprietor of Hagley Estate and has decided the upkeep of the property and buildings are too much to manage from afar in London. They’ve invited everyone to to say good-bye and to sell it to a local buyer.
Addison Brown - GN: The long-time groundskeeper and caretaker of Hagley Estate, it seems they’ve slown down on their upkeep of the grounds, but no one knows why.
Avery Daye - GN: Avery is Liege Cobham’s long-time ward. They have grown up in Hagley Hall and are fond of its old charm, even if it has been slowly deteriorating over the years.
Mickey O’Brien - GN: The no-nonsense cook for Hagley Estate, Mickey’s got a wit as sturdy as their stew!
Blair Evans - GN: A local buyer invited to purchase the estate from Lane Cobham-Gable. They seem to have high ambitions for the property.
Remi Winters - GN: An eccentric best-selling author who has come to the estate with their friend Blair to witness the historic sale of the estate. They also seem to be looking for inspiration for their next thriller…
